Hardly a day passes without widespread media coverage, publication of independent reports and opinion makers reporting on the critical issues faced by growing society which is living longer resulting in the care needs for the elderly, disabled and infirm increasing exponentially.

There is no doubt we have a care crisis in the UK, largely attributed to (and solvable by) a lack of suitable housing and efficient deployment of care resources.

Add to this the shortage in affordable housing stock and we have a generation unable to afford to enter the housing market.

This manifests itself in many ways:

• NHS bed blocking, £400 per bed, per night costing the NHS £3 billion per year.
• 15,000 young people with neurological conditions in the UK ‘stuck’ in elderly care homes.
• Veterans and accident victims unable to find suitable accommodation.
• The most vulnerable in society stuck on local authority waiting lists or in unsuitable temporary accommodation such as Bed and Breakfast. 83,700 households in the UK 2018.
• Lack of holiday accommodation or respite accommodation for full time carers.
• Downsizers tempted by very expensive ‘Equity Release’ providers.
• Relatives put in care homes up to £1500 per week paid by local authority or often out of savings and property.
• 3.4 million ‘Boomerang’ kids in the UK, no choice but to live with mum and dad.
• 10,000 applications in the UK per year for ‘grannie annexes’.

All of these people deserve better and this is a better way.
